Transport Operator / Planner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our on-site logistics business unit as a transport planner/operator.

Based at our offices at Diageo Blackgrange, the role presents the opportunity to work within a strong and dedicated team gaining the skills and experience required to successfully operate the day-to-day transport operation.

The role will involve planning and routing of drivers and vehicles, communicating with drivers and customers and ensuring adherence to customer service levels, legislative compliance, and operational efficiency.

Role Summary

· Effective management and planning of drivers, through on-going communication and using our TMS software

· Controlling and planning an agreed amount of resource (vehicles, drivers, trailers); ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU Drivers’ Hours regulations)

· To ensure the daily plan is completed in real time managing resources effectively, maximising utilisation.

· Control and execution of in-house planning tools and systems to manage workload and monitor efficiency

· Ensure fleet compliance is maintained at all times.

· Ensure all Drivers administration / management is in line with Regulations

· Understanding and achieving key performance targets relating to the safety and efficiency of our fleet (including utilisation and costing)

· Constantly communicate with our Customers & Drivers to ensure customer KPI’s and targets are achieved and maintained

· Establish and maintain a positive relationship with key customer.

· Develop an understanding and experience of working with the Planning Regulatory framework, ensuring you keep up to date with policy and best practice as it develops

Skills / Qualifications

· An excellent knowledge of transport with previous planning experience of a large C&D fleet.

· Excellent knowledge and understanding of WTD, Tachograph rules and regulations.

· Proficient IT skills with experience using excel and transport management systems.

· Ability to adapt to ever changing environments and challenges

· Good communication skills.

· Ability to plan ahead and work on your own initiative.

This role will require strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
