Transport Manager
Location: Springburn, Glasgow (with travel to outlying site ) – North and central Scotland.

Our Bulk Transport unit is a key logistics partner to the whisky and spirits industry, operating a fleet of over 100 vehicles and 500 trailers, and servicing many of the UK’s leading drinks companies.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Transport Manager, you’ll lead and oversee multi-site operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and service excellence across our network. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team of Transport Supervisors and Planners to manage a fleet of 100+ vehicles and 500 trailers, supporting around 180 drivers.
- P&L accountability for your area of operations
- Manage the Operator’s Licence (O-Licence) responsibilities across sites, ensuring compliance with DVSA and Traffic Commissioner requirements.
- Ensure strict compliance with UK transport legislation, including ADR regulations for the carriage of dangerous goods, driver hours, and health & safety law.
- Driving operational efficiency through the use of telematics and route optimisation tools.
- Developing and enhancing KPI reporting and performance tracking.
- Overseeing driver recruitment, training, engagement, and performance management.
- Acting as the key point of contact for customer relationships and reporting.
- Coaching and developing your direct reports to build a high-performing team.
- Deputising for the General Manager when required.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a confident, hands-on leader with a strong background in transport operations. The ideal candidate will bring:
- Proven experience in a Transport Management role (essential).
- A valid International CPC qualification. (essential)
- Strong people management skills, ideally within a unionised environment.
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with the ability to lead and inspire teams.
- Solid knowledge of UK geography and transport planning.
- Experience handling disciplinary, grievance, and incident investigations.
- Familiarity with vehicle telematics and transport management systems.
- In-depth understanding of transport legislation and operational H&S.
- Excellent communication skills and customer-facing experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Commercial awareness, including budgeting and route pricing.
- Experience managing multi-site and multi-customer operations.
