An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our company as a Transport Contract Manager. Carntyne is a leading provider of bulk transport and on-site logistics to the whisky and spirits industry. With a large fleet of vehicles, tankers and trailers our dedicated team service most if not all the major drinks companies.

The role will involve managing bulk transport activities for one of our key customers and will present the opportunity to work within a strong and dedicated team acting as the key point of contact between the customer and the company.

The role will be responsible for a team of site-based drivers across two of the customer’s sites, and will involve seeking operational improvements, efficiencies and synergies while ensuring adherence to high customer service levels and legislative compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Key contact between the customer and the company
  • Responsible for a team of site-based drivers across two locations (transport will be provided to enable a presence at both locations)
  • Ensuring all legal requirements are adhered to (Working Time Directive and EU Drivers’ Hours regulations)
  • Managing resources effectively, maximising utilisation.
  • Control and execution of in-house planning tools and systems to manage workload and monitor efficiency
  • To develop good working relationships with the customer, keeping them fully informed and react positively and speedily to their needs.
  • Ensure all Drivers administration / management is in line with Regulations
  • Understanding and achieving key performance targets relating to the safety and efficiency of our fleet (including utilisation and costing)
  • Ensuring customer KPI’s and targets are achieved and maintained
  • Ensuring you keep up to date with policy and best practice as it develops

Skills / Qualifications/ Capabilities

  • Experience in a similar transport operational role
  • Effective communication skills including face to face meetings and undertaking presentations
  • Good knowledge of transport legislation
  • Proficient IT skills with experience using excel and transport management systems.
  • International CPC (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of ADR regulations (advantageous)
  • Ability to plan ahead and work on your own initiative.
  • Drive and enthusiasm with a modern, positive, forward-thinking attitude.
  • Knowledge of general Health & Safety.

This role will require effective communication skills internally and externally. Promote a positive manner, strong diligence, and the ability to work under pressure.
